The NotePin by PLAUD AI is a Mini Elephant 🐘. Because You Shouldn’t Have to Remember Everything

It’s easy to forget the details of a conversation. What someone said. What you promised to do. The question that could’ve made the meeting better. The NotePin from PLAUD AI is built to fix that. It’s a small, clip-on device that records high-quality audio and, paired with the PLAUD AI app, turns speech into clean, readable notes with summaries and action items. It works across meetings, lectures, appointments, and more.

The PLAUD NotePin can go anywhere. It weighs almost nothing and is about the size of a USB key. Inside, you get 64GB of storage and two high-fidelity microphones with beamforming and speech enhancement technology to help focus on what matters: the person speaking. Tap and hold for three seconds to start recording. Tap and hold again to stop. It’s straightforward to use. The device syncs with the PLAUD AI app via Bluetooth and uploads the audio to the cloud for transcription and processing. The results show up in the app within minutes.

You can wear the NotePin in four different ways. The clip attaches easily to a shirt, collar, or bag. The magnetic pin lets you place it on a lapel or jacket without damaging fabric. The wrist strap makes it comfortable to wear on your arm, which gives you more flexibility depending on the situation. The lanyard is a convenient, hands-free option that goes around your neck without feeling bulky or uncomfortable.

The NotePin works in a wide range of situations. A student can use it in class or during study groups. A professional might clip it on during meetings, brainstorms, or hallway check-ins. Journalists and researchers can use it for in-person interviews. Anyone who needs to remember what was said but doesn’t want to sift through hours of recordings can benefit from being able just to read a transcription or summary.

The real magic is in the PLAUD AI app. Once the audio is uploaded, the app uses advanced AI to create a transcript and a smart summary highlighting key points, decisions, and next steps. You can edit the text, flag essential parts, and search by keyword. It supports multiple languages, identifies speakers, and organizes everything in folders you can easily navigate.

In a recent test, I clipped on the NotePin before a long meeting. It picked up every voice, even when people talked over each other. The app broke the conversation into sections, labeled the speakers, and offered a summary with action items. I didn’t need to take a single note. Everything I needed was right there, ready to copy, export, or share.

The battery lasts about 40 days in standby mode and up to 20 hours of continuous recording. It charges via USB-C and stores up to 64GB of audio locally, which works even when your phone isn’t nearby. The bundle includes 300 hours per month of transcription. If you need more, PLAUD offers Pro and Unlimited plans with additional features.

One thing to note: the NotePin doesn’t stream live audio. It records and then uploads, which helps protect privacy and gives users the chance to review and edit before sharing. It’s not primarily designed to record phone calls, but it still can be used if you use a speakerphone. The NotePin is ideal for in-person conversations, meetings, and interviews.

In a world full of voice memos and half-remembered conversations, the NotePin stands out by doing one thing well: helping people capture what’s said and turn it into something they can actually use. It’s not just about remembering. It’s about following through.
